We're Up Against The McGriddle!

Allrighty, we've got an update that not related directly to the website or the comic! It's kinda a big one for us, so we're really excited.

Triptych Studios - aka us, the people who bring you Sun Wukong No Kaidan - will be at Nekocon this November 6 - 8, 2009 in lovely Hampton, Virginia. We're going to have a table in the Artists' Alley, so if you're able to make the convention please stop by! We'll be there all three days, and we're looking forward to meeting many fellow webcomic-y type people.

The cool news? We're getting a panel! The details are still tentative at this point, but right now we're penciled in from 9 am to 10 am on Saturday. This may be subject to change, but at the moment I'm just glad that we're not:

  • On Friday
  • On Sunday
  • Opposite Cosplay or the dance
The panel's focus is going to be on comics, but we're going to take a look at some of the nitty-gritty that doesn't get as much coverage. We're going to be talking about what an intellectual property is, how to protect yours, and a quick Contracts 101. A bit heavy for an "early" morning panel, but we're hoping to bring some good information for people who are really trying to make their way in the world of for-profit work.

More details as they come!

Tweeks

Like I mentioned in previous post, the website is still going through some tweeks. The comic is now going to display a little differently than it originally did, so any feedback you have is certainly welcome. The character gallery is also going to be getting an upgrade pretty soon, so check for that in the next week or so.

Some link banners have been added to the Links section, so if you want to link back to us (http://wukongkaidan.net *wink-wink, nudge-nudge*), feel free. Just send us an email or comment here in the blog if you do and we'll add you as well.

Sun Wukong No Kaidan Is Go!

Hey all!

First off, thanks for taking the time to stop by Sun Wukong No Kaidan. We know there's a ton of options for free online comic goodness, so we appreciate you taking the time to check us out.

As you may have guessed, this story is a new take on the Chinese classic, The Journey to the West. This story is arguably one of the greatest, most loved and most well known in Chinese literature, and one of the most widely known Chinese classic outside of Asia. Developing this story, we drew from Buddhist tradition and lore from across Asia and hopefully you'll really get the feel for this as the story progresses.

Going forward, we are going to be adding blog posts to fill out the story. Well, not the story per se, but providing background on Buddhism and other cultural elements to help enrich the experience.

So, enjoy the Prologue and we'll keep busy to entertain you until Chapter One is posted. Check back often; we're going to be adding a lot of content in the coming weeks as well as information on conventions, goodies in the (coming soon!) store, and eye candy from both Jen (artist extraordinaire) and friends.
